Year 7 Young Rocket Scientists
Fire 1
|
Who said '7P are not Rocket Scientists!'?
As part of their unit of work on Energy and its many transformations, students of 7P decided to put theory into practise. They investigated to see if the energy stored in compressed air inside a plastic bottle could be used to launch the bottle like a rocket.
With the aid of a pump and a valve, the bottle was soon flying high into the air.
The addition of some water to the bottle, and an appreciation of Newton’s Third Law of Motion, provided extra thrust to reach even greater heights.
Now it's back to the drawing board for further design modifications such as stabilising fins.
The sky is the limit for these young enthusiasts.
NASA, look out!
