Year 7 Parents go back to the classroom
21 May 2008
It's often difficult for young children moving into high school to know what to expect when they get there. New classrooms, more teachers and different subjects can be a source of anxiety for them and a source of worry for their parents. To ease this worry, Narrabeen Sports' High School recently invited year 7 parents to return to school. Parents attended a series of lessons presented by year 7 teachers to show them the style of learning that occurs in classrooms today. Parents experienced the specialist classrooms their children use everyday and participated in lessons that their children enjoy such as Science, Mathematics, Sport, Visual Arts and Technology. Parents had to change classes at the bell and follow their accompanying teacher around the school just as their children do. Mrs. Rose Principal said, " this initiative has been very successful in easing the worry of year 7 parents. They seemed to really enjoy the experience and were very impressed by the style of lessons being presented to their children by such dedicated staff."
