Subjects: English as a Second Language (ESL)

This course is designed for students from non-English-speaking backgrounds who have been educated overseas or in an Australian educational institution using English as the language of instruction for five years or less prior to the beginning of the Preliminary year (Year 11) of study.

The English as a Second Language Higher School Certificate course complements the English (Standard) course and the English (Advanced) course and shares the overall aim and rationale of English. This course is especially useful to students who are planning to study at University. Successful completion of this course, together with elective subjects, will increase students' success in obtaining the marks necessary to gain University entrance.
